About us

Southern Exposure came into existence in 1989, initially for the work of Peter Goldsmid, screenwriter-director of the multi-award-winning feature film, The Road to Mecca (starring Oscar-winner Kathy Bates). Its first production was the popular prime-time legal drama series Justice for All, made with Peter’s partner and wife, creative producer, screenwriter, script editor and screenwriting lecturer, Margaret Goldsmid. Three more series of Justice for All followed. The company has won numerous awards, most notably for its mini-series, Riemvasmaak (about forced removals under apartheid) and Difficult Love, a documentary Peter made with lesbian activist Zanele Muholi.  Peter has won Best Script Awards for two of his feature scripts and, most recently, for Natiki, an animation short film script.

Southern Exposure is currently in production of a prime time True Crime series for SABC 3, a channel of the national broadcaster, the South African Broadcasting Corporation. LOOKING INTO DARKNESS is hosted by David Klatzow, the country’s leading independent forensic investigator.
